Kandooma Kids Club…completes every kid's holiday!
Within Lego throwing distant of the Recreation Center, and adjacent to the Kandooma Café, the Kandooma Kids Club (KKC) is a world of adventure and wonderment for children aged 4 – 12. It is a place to be creative and imaginative, to engage and to learn. The KKC coordinators have been having a whale of a time developing activities for the week. We often wonder if they weren't just enjoying themselves just a teensy bit too much.
Wet and Splashy:
Mini snorkeling is a wonderful way for kids to practice their skills and develop confidence before meeting the fish. This activity takes place in the pool and in the shallow waters of the lagoon.
Dry and Cheery:
A selection of indoor supervised activities, board and card games, table games and fun learning has been developed as a part of the weeks programme.
Clever and Nosey:
Children are taken on a 'see and feel' adventure by our marine biologist as they learn to identify the amazing myriad of colourful marine life. Trips around the island to identify the flora and fauna are also introduced and a follow up painting and sound recording session to remember them is conducted later in the day.
Creative and Messy:
The chefs get a little hand with their cooking. Actually lots of little hands as members of the KKC mix, mash, mould, and mush cake mixture into moulds for baking! Then later on it's a picnic under the trees as they test and enjoy the proof of the pudding.
Play and Fancy:
Children take part in Kandooma's version of the make-believe 'Pirates of the Maldives' as they put on costumes, get on a dhoni and rehearse scripts on their given role! KC coordinators director the 'actors' and plays on Maldivian legends which are filmed and then screened later that evening for their parents.
Safe and Comfy:
Baby sitting services are available for the little ones and can be arranged through the Recreation Center.
Dive & Discover a three dimensional world of colour and life!
The Dive Center:
The Dive Centre is comprehensively equipped to meet the needs of advanced divers but also suitable and thoughtfully set up for absolute beginners. It is run by Euro Divers, a fully accredited organisation operating ten outlets in the Maldives alone as well as operating in several other countries. They will provide multi-lingual instructors to cater for Kandooma's international guest mix.
Being lively and engaged is central to our reason for existing so when it comes to dedicating a department for activity we were always going to do some things a little differently. While diving largely takes centre stage, being almost a dog-paddle to some of the country's best dive sites, we have developed experiences to tickle most tastes. It might be pursuing an adrenaline surge on a surfboard, a mind enriching aqua safari or a reflective moment at a moonlit campfire drinking tea with a Maldivian story teller.

Everything was thought of and we wanted for nothing. The drinks package was very reasonable if you intend to have more than a couple of drinks each day but note there is a 3 day minimum if you take this offer up. May I add the quality and consistancy of the cocktails on the Stay Spirited list was excellent! The half board prices were reasonable but as we already had breakfast included, we were quite happy to share a pizza for lunch and have dinner in the coffee club and meal prices there were on par with Noosa or Byron Bay. Watching the day end on the Sunset Deck is a must do, the quality of the star gazing is an added bonus. The most impressive feature was quality of the staff - every staff member we encountered was courteous, professional, friendly and welcoming.Read full review

to make it brief; yes a good choice

We were looking for a child freindly place to stay in the Maldives and I think we hit the jackpot. The staff would be extremely attentive with our son, even took him by the hand several times to see the crabs or play a while with him for a while. They always had a smile on their face and greet you pleasantly each time. The food was awesome! I love ethnic food and the buffet (we had half board - breakfast and dinner) was awesome. I can't complain about the kid's selection either. My son loved the food, as they always had several non spicy plates especially for children (pasta, chicken, rice, grilled meat or fish). They also had a wide variety of deserts and they were so good, I ate deserts every night - Shame on you Chef... and on me! As for the island, I loved it. I'm sure that there are islands in the Maldives that are even lovelier, but the atmosphere and everything put together, made this resort particularly special. They had plenty of activities, even outdoor cinema at night (Wednesday's). They also have several activities to choose from during the day (water sports, snorkeling, dolphin watching, night fishing), however you must pay for each seperately). There is a complementary snorkeling trip but the reef is not so great, and actually the only downer for me from this resort is that the reef around the island is practically dead (due to the tsunami in 2005). You do get pretty good snorkeling if you go on the turtle snorkeling trip. As for the rooms, I was in the garden villa and I loved the room. It had really nice decor, an outdoor bathroom which was pretty cool and the room was always tidy. You get complementary water and tea. There is a cool orange juice machine, but you have to pay for the orange juice as well. As for the beaches, the island is pretty small, but the beaches are charming. We will definately come back here. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so special and for taking such good care of our son!Read full review

Extra €60 pn plus tax if you child wants a camp bed!Sorry but I can't get past the fact that any "family" resort believes it is acceptable to try and charge this amount to provide you with a fold up camp bed, to make matters worse you don't even get...Sorry but I can't get past the fact that any "family" resort believes it is acceptable to try and charge this amount to provide you with a fold up camp bed, to make matters worse you don't even get to keep it at that price!Read full review
I know they say you can share a bed but how many kids over 5 really want to sleep with mum and dad?
Kids eat free.........yes but only in one out of the 3 restaurants?
You know it isn't going to be the cheapest holiday but in a room that says it can accommodate a certain number if guests, beds to sleep in shouldn't be an add on like a budget airline.
Truly paradise but with a price tagEverything about this trip was amazing!! Food service etc.. Had an amazing time. Only bad point is the price, but hey this is the Maldives. All the guys could not be more helpful. Good to note that...Everything about this trip was amazing!! Food service etc.. Had an amazing time. Only bad point is the price, but hey this is the Maldives. All the guys could not be more helpful. Good to note that this is more of a couples retreat and not much goes on late unless you meet other couples wanting a drink, but the main bar stayed open for us till we decided to go to bed!! Which was quite late... I think!!Read full review
